Eurozone Market Insights

The Covid-19 pandemic has created a new set of challenges for the Eurozone.

Enterprise Ireland is responding to the global crisis by working with Irish exporters to help them avail of business response supports announced by the Government. These supports are designed to help businesses stabilise and adapt to the evolving situation, in preparation for getting back on the road to recovery.

Market Overview

The Eurozone is one of the world’s largest economic regions. Its currency, the Euro, is the second most traded globally and is considered one of the strongest in the world. With a population of over 340 million, the Eurozone benefits from ongoing economic growth, falling unemployment rates and a healthy level of inflation.

The Opportunity

When Ireland joined the Euro in 2002, it created an unprecendented opportunity to extend our domestic market into the single market with zero currency risk. Yet today, the Eurozone represents a largely untapped opportunity for Irish exporters. The stability offered by a shared currency, shared regulations and simplified tariffs and customs requirements are only some of the reasons why the market should be high on the agenda for Irish businesses looking to expand their reach.

Economic indicators look bright. Over the next two years, unemployment is forecast to lower, with steady growth rates of 1.3 to 1.6% , despite the challenging environment.
